#3: Uprising, austerity and collective action – Slovenia and Greece
Categories: General

[ENG, SLO] This show features two in-depth interviews from the european south/east, where debt and austerity are causing social devastation and triggering strong movements of resistance and popular power.

During the first half hour, three activist friends tell us about the Slovenian uprisings that began in winter 2012 – their emergence, their forms, challenges and perspectives. The power and creativity of this non-representational movement against austerity has much in common with the spanish 15M and other peripheral european crisis-haunted countries such as Greece, etc.

During the second part of this show, Stathis Kouvelakis, a political scientist close to the Syriza party in Greece tells us about the current social, political and economic situation in his country, the movement of the Greek squares, the rise of fascist tendencies, as well as new practices of mutual aid and solidarity springing from this moment.

language: english throughout.
